The selection process for the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) shall be conducted in four phases:
- Online Written Test: Eligible candidates will appear for an Online Written Test consisting of the following sections:
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 25 Questions, 25 Marks, 35 Minutes
- Data Analysis & Interpretation – 25 Questions, 25 Marks, 35 Minutes
- English Language – 25 Questions, 25 Marks, 25 Minutes
- Quantitative Aptitude – 25 Questions, 25 Marks, 35 Minutes
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness – 50 Questions, 50 Marks, 50 Minutes
Negative marking: 1/4th marks deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General/EWS and 35% for Reserved categories in each section.
- Screening: Online application and documents of written test qualified candidates will be scrutinized by the Bank to verify eligibility criteria before the Language Proficiency Test/Interview.
- Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): Candidates who have not studied the local language of the applied State in 10th or 12th standard must appear in the LLPT. It is of qualifying nature assessing reading, writing, and speaking proficiency. Candidates who studied the local language in 10th/12th standard are exempted subject to documentary evidence.
- Personal Interview: All shortlisted candidates will be called for a Personal Interview of 50 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% (22.50 marks) for SC/ST candidates and 50% (25 marks) for other candidates.
- Final Selection: Based on combined performance in Online Written Test and Personal Interview, subject to qualifying in LLPT (where applicable). Merit list prepared State-wise and category-wise. In case of tie, date of birth (elder candidate ranked higher) is used as tiebreaker.

- State-wise Posting: Selected candidates will be posted within the selected State until completion of 9 years of service or promotion to SMG Scale IV, whichever is earlier.
- Probation Period: Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years from the date of joining.
- Indemnity Bond: Selected candidates must execute an Indemnity Bond to serve the Bank for at least 3 years or pay Rs. 2,00,000/- if leaving before completion of 3 years of active service.
- CIBIL Score: Candidates must maintain a minimum CIBIL score of 680 or above at the time of joining the Bank.
- Advance Increment: One advance increment per prior completed year of service (max 2 increments) for candidates who worked as Officers in Scheduled Commercial Banks, subject to similar job profile as Scale-I Generalist Officer of PNB.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing & speaking) in the specified local language of the state for which they are applying.
- Scribe Facility: PwBD candidates may use a scribe as per Government guidelines. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is allowed for eligible candidates.
- Biometric Verification: Bank may capture photo and thumb impression/IRIS Scan at various stages for biometric verification.
