HP TET November 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for HP TET is subject/category specific. Therefore, candidates should not assume that one qualification applies to every TET paper.

The basic qualification routes generally involve the relevant graduation/post-graduation qualification along with the required teacher-training qualification such as B.Ed., D.El.Ed./JBT, B.El.Ed. or another prescribed qualification, depending upon the category.

TGT Arts

Candidates may be eligible through prescribed graduation/post-graduation routes in relevant subjects along with the required teacher-training qualification.

TGT Non-Medical

Candidates generally need the prescribed qualification in relevant Science/Non-Medical subjects along with the required professional teacher-training qualification.

TGT Medical

Candidates should possess the prescribed Medical/Science educational background together with the applicable teacher-training qualification.

TGT Hindi

Candidates with the prescribed Hindi-related graduation/post-graduation qualification and required teacher-training qualification may apply, subject to the detailed prospectus.

TGT Sanskrit

Candidates with the prescribed Sanskrit/Shastri or relevant degree qualification along with the required professional qualification can apply, subject to the applicable conditions.

JBT

Candidates should have the prescribed elementary teacher education qualification such as the applicable D.El.Ed./JBT qualification or another qualification accepted under the HP TET rules.

Punjabi / Urdu

Candidates should possess the prescribed language-related educational qualification and required teacher-training qualification specified for the respective TET.

Special Educator TET

Special Educator candidates must satisfy the specific qualification requirements prescribed for the relevant level:

  • Pre-Primary to Class V
  • Class VI to Class XII

Because HP TET has multiple qualification routes and subject-specific conditions, applicants should carefully compare their qualification with the official November 2026 prospectus before submitting the form. HPBOSE itself advises candidates to satisfy themselves regarding minimum educational qualifications before applying.

Is There Any Age Limit for HP TET?

There is no upper age limit for appearing in HP TET according to the available November 2026 information.

However, candidates should remember that TET qualification itself does not automatically guarantee appointment. Age and other eligibility conditions applicable to a particular teaching recruitment are determined by the concerned recruiting/appointing authority.

HP TET November 2026 Admit Card

HPBOSE is expected to make the admit card available approximately four days before the respective examination.

Candidates should regularly check the official HPBOSE website and download their admit card when it becomes available. The Board’s application instructions for TET specify that admit cards are made available online rather than being sent separately by post.

HP TET November 2026 Selection Process

It is important to understand that HP TET is an eligibility examination, not a direct recruitment drive.

Candidates who qualify for TET become eligible for consideration in teacher recruitment subject to the recruitment rules, vacancies, educational qualifications, age requirements and other conditions prescribed by the concerned appointing authority.

Therefore, passing HP TET should not be interpreted as direct appointment to a government teaching post.
